Leaving Germany and the World Cup behind

Waiting for our train at the Mainz train station. This is one of the fast and sleek Inter-City Express trains that we rode as often as possible. We had first-class Eurail Passes and could get on and off of them at will. They're the best trains in Europe. A side view of the train. Our final stop in Germany, the Frankfurt Airport. This is the train station section of the airport. It's a lot nicer than the terminal section of the airport. The escalators up from the train tracks. Riding the tram between the train station and the main terminal. Lots of construction going on. Frankfurt is one of the busiest airports in the world. Here's the terminal. Very boring and the Frankfurt airport doesn't have any stores or restaurants beyond the security checkpoints. So you come in and sit. And wait. In Iceland we had maintenance problems on our connecting flight, so we had a four-hour wait. This is just a view of Iceland looking at the mountains in the distance. Zooming in makes the mountains a bit easier to see. Needless to say, we were really tired and cranky due to the delay, so I wasn't really in a picture taking mood. This is the last photo I took on the trip... and it was of an airplane that probably was working fine. But we made it home safe and sound. The trip overall was a blast and I can't wait to get back to Europe again sometime soon!
